Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) and Alstom Turkey, signed a technical cooperation protocol to enhance cooperation in the field of education in Turkey. The agreement was signed on April 3, 2018 at 12:00pm with Istanbul Technical University Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, Alstom Turkey General Manager, Ms Arban Çitak and Alstom Group Middle East and Africa Region System and Vice President of Infrastructure, Mr. Mama Sougoufara present.
At the heart of the protocol, is training in the field of "Railway Engineering" for İTÜ engineering students and newly hired Alstom personnel. Those who start work at Alstom will receive training from Alstom and İTÜ trainers, which will increase the number of specialists in subsystems such as line work and power infrastructure. Within the scope of the partnership, Alstom experts will introduce İTÜ engineering students to the railway industry and provide information on Alstom's worldwide experience and key project references. This cooperation will include joint activities such as seminars, workshops, conferences, symposia, conventions, meetings and promotional activities to be organized between the two sides.
İTÜ Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca stated: "İTÜ has been the academic instİTÜtion with the most privileged accumulation in the field by working on transportation systems and solutions since its foundation. This accumulation is also a guide to shaping the future of our university. Academic development is targeted on thematic and hybrid studies, and transportation is considered a priority area for both. In this regard, both a specialized workforce is trained and steps are taken by the sector with innovative solutions. The pioneering role of İTÜ at the different levels and stages of the transportation sector, and with the experience of the distinguished project partners, has returns to the country in the form of improved comfort in social life and providing technological superiority with.
After Rector Karaca’s speech, Alstom General Manager, Ms. Arban Çitak expressed her thoughts with the following: “This partnership will add value to the sector with Turkish Alstom engineers who have expertise and qualifications in their field by encouraging young and talented İTÜ engineers to become part of the industry, by increasing awareness of the railway sector in Turkey, and by having a skilled workforce.”
